Black Friday Weekend Sale

This past weekend I set up my paintings, prints and greeting cards at one of my good friend's ceramic gallery. You might remember her from previous posts, Janice Chassier. It was a lot of fun to meet new people experiencing my artwork for the first time and others who came specifically to see me. I saw some old friends, like my high school classmate, Jessica. A mother of three, avid blogger (you can read about her family's adventures by clicking here) and owner of Happy Goats Soap Company.

It was a great opportunity to reflect on the year and discuss our plans for 2016. I'm so grateful for everyone who came to support us!

New Painting: Sunset Corn

One of my best friends from college, Don Macavoy, is a professional photographer that travels the country and documents his journeys through amazing landscape photographs. While he was in the south Jersey area he took the reference picture for this painting. The beautiful sky and the contrasting silhouette of the corn inspired me. I really enjoyed working with the positive and negative spaces created by the corn stalks.

Custom Recipe Box

I collaborated with A Whole New Light to create this one of a kind recipe box. It was repaired, primed, painted, distressed, a design painted on it, and antiqued. Beautiful hardware was added to finish the piece.

Bridal Shower Signs

This past weekend I helped with the decorations for the my sister-in-law's bridal shower. We went for a country picnic theme with potted plants wrapped in burlap, sunflowers and antiques for displays. Below are some of the signs that I made for her special day. If you would like me to make a custom chalkboard sign for your next event, please visit my website by clicking here.

Painting Progression: "Onto The Next"

Below is the progression of my newest painting, "Onto the Next". I had started the painting over 6 years ago and never finished it. I had just finished "The Neighbors" and was trying to decide what painting I would start next. After looking through one of my studio drawers for reference material, I found this base painted canvas panel (The first image in the video) and decided it was a great time to finish it. I used a photograph I took at my husband's family farm during the spring of 2009. I loved painting all of the textures and the unexpected colors found within them. I hope you enjoy the video!

Driveway Markers

I will paint on just about anything and yesterday's project proves it! On Memorial Day I spent the afternoon painting driveway markers for my cousin-in-laws, Bobby and Annaliese. You might remember them from their engagement and wedding signs I painted a couple of years ago.

They decided to repurpose these beautiful rocks that were once piled up in their front garden. They buried two sets of rocks at the entrance of both driveways and asked me to paint them. Below are the progression pictures from this project.

Arts in Bloom 2015

This past weekend, May 16 and 17, marked my third year participating in the Salem County Arts in Bloom Studio Tour. I always enjoy meeting new people, seeing familiar faces and sharing what I do with the public. Most visitors were local from within the county while others were from neighboring towns seeing what Salem County had to offer.

I had my 13 new paintings from this past year on display and for sale as well as archivable prints and greeting cards featuring my artwork. This year I experienced more people coming to my location (my studio at A Whole New Light). I am thankful to have met so many art appreciators and hope they will return during the holiday season for a work of art or print!

Below are some pictures of my studio. Thank you to A Garden Party for donating the beautiful floral arrangement that was used as a giveaway during the weekend!

The Neighbors Progression

Years ago we had pregnant diary cows as neighbors. I loved watching them from our picture window in the living room; especially "Big Red". I took many reference pictures and decided to do a painting to record the memory of their presence in my life.

Below are the progression pictures during the creation of the painting. Since many people ask how long a painting takes me to complete, I decided to keep track. This painting took about 20 hours to create which I completed in ten days.

What do you think?

Salem Oak Progression

This year's theme for the Salem County Arts in Bloom Studio Tour is the Salem Oak Tree. Each artist had the opportunity to make artwork using wood clippings from the Salem Oak or an inspired by piece. My painting is based from a picture from fellow artist, Janice Chassier. She took the picture on her iPhone and I loved the perspective as it also included the iconic Salem Oak Diner. Below are the progression pictures of this painting.

Curious #601

Here is the progression of my newest painting, Curious #601. In May of 2009, Chester and I went for a four-wheeler ride to take reference pictures for a painting I needed to complete for my college summer painting class. We came across some cows near the fence along Newkirk Station Road that belonged to our friend, Ben Wilson. While all the other cows walked away, #601 stayed and posed for me. I took many photographs of her and completed my college assignment, ”Wilson’s #601” .That painting has become a favorite and I was interested in doing more painting of her. This painting is the second I finished in the series.
