Introducing my new painting, “Caught in Another Country Moment” In Aldine, the dairy farmers of Triangle Farm would walk their cows down the street twice a day. Locals knew this daily ritual as “The Cow Parade” which would stop traffic at the intersection and cause commuters to wait for the cows to walk from the field to the barn for milking. I absolutely loved watching the cows walk down the road and would often make sure to be there around the time that they would walking. I took the reference picture for this painting in March of 2009. The farmers retired and the cow parade has since ended. I wanted to create this painting to honor the farmer’s legacy and preserve this special memory held by so many people. This is the second painting in the series and features the Thomas family house.

Today would have been the opening day for Cream Valley Custard but unfortunately, they had to postpone their opening due to the coronavirus. What is the first thing you are going to order when they open?! I could really go for a hot fudge sundae with Dino jimmies. Comment below:
Nothing brings me more happiness and pride than the success of my students! I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to teach this amazing young lady in her artistic journey. My private art lesson student, Cecily, won a Silver Key in the 2020 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her graphite drawing, “Globe Artichokes” She took her reference picture at Longwood Gardens and began working on it independently. She brought the drawing every week to her lesson and we’d talk about her progress and discuss techniques for rendering the various textures of the plants and leaves. Can you spot the tiny spider?
